New Painting of Aaron Judge Titled 62

NY Yankees Aaron Judge

Original painting created by artist Edgar J. Brown 2022 | http://edgarbrown.com

Hand painted on canvas New York Yankees Aaron Judge American League MVP titled 62.

I’m thrilled to unveil my latest artwork, 62, a hand-painted 36″ x 48″ canvas celebrating New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge and his historic 2022 American League MVP season. This painting captures the electrifying moment when Judge hit his 62nd home run on October 4, 2022, against the Texas Rangers, breaking Roger Maris’ 1961 American League record of 61 home runs—a mark that stood for 61 years.

The painting freezes the power and emotion of Judge’s record-breaking swing. A vibrant blue highlight surrounds him, symbolizing Roger Maris’ spirit shining down, blessing that monumental 62nd home run. The background is intentionally black and white, evoking the classic 1961 New York Yankees era with an old-school vibe. The stadium is split in half: the right side showcases the iconic architecture of Yankee Stadium, steeped in tradition, while the left side depicts Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, where Judge made history. Three banners fly on the Rangers’ side—60 for Babe Ruth’s 1927 record, 61 for Roger Maris’ 1961 milestone, and 62 for Aaron Judge’s 2022 triumph. On the Yankees’ side, two banners proclaim “All Rise” and “MVP,” honoring Judge’s larger-than-life presence and his 2022 American League MVP award.

Aaron Judge, born April 26, 1992, in Sacramento, California, and raised in Linden, has become one of baseball’s all-time greats. Standing 6’7” and weighing 282 pounds, he’s one of the tallest and heaviest players in MLB history, yet his athleticism and power have redefined the game. Drafted by the Yankees in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Fresno State, Judge debuted in 2016, hitting a home run in his first at-bat. In 2017, he won the AL Rookie of the Year unanimously, smashing 52 home runs—a then-MLB rookie record—and finishing second in AL MVP voting. His 2022 season was historic: he set the AL record with 62 home runs, batted .311/.425/.686, and led the league with 131 RBIs, earning his first AL MVP award and the Hank Aaron Award for the AL’s top offensive player. In 2024, Judge won his second AL MVP unanimously, leading MLB with 58 home runs, a .458 on-base percentage, and a 1.159 OPS, while becoming the fastest player to reach 300 career home runs (955 games). Through 2025, he’s a six-time All-Star, three-time Silver Slugger, and the Yankees’ captain since 2023, with a career total of 333 home runs and a .294 batting average. Off the field, Judge’s philanthropy through his ALL RISE Foundation and his 2023 Roberto Clemente Award highlight his character, making him a true role model.

This painting is a tribute to Judge’s monumental career, the Yankees’ storied legacy, and the timeless connection between past and present. As a lifelong fan, capturing this moment on canvas was a labor of love, blending history, athleticism, and heart.

1992 Giants Today Show interview with Sports Artist Edgar J. Brown

As I reflect on my 100 New York Giants paintings, the 100th being of Saquon Barkley titled The Sky’s the Limit, I’m thrilled to revisit a pivotal moment in my career: a 1992 New York Giants Today Show segment on CBS hosted by Greg Gumbel and Phil McConkey that showcased my passion for sports art.

Commemorative Hambletonian Artist 1994 and 1996

**Honoring a Legacy: My Journey with the Hambletonian at Meadowlands Racetrack**

Standing at the crossroads of art and sport, few experiences in my career have resonated as deeply as being named the **Hambletonian Artist of the Year**—*not once, but twice*, in **1994** and **1996**. The Hambletonian, held at the iconic **Meadowlands Racetrack**, is widely regarded as the **most prestigious race in Harness Racing**, a true cornerstone of American sports tradition. To have been a part of that legacy still feels surreal, nearly three decades later.

In 1994, my first commissioned Hambletonian painting captured the heart and energy of the race and was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Today, that very painting hangs proudly in the **Meadowlands Racetrack corporate office**, a reminder of the enduring connection between the arts and the thrilling world of harness racing. Two years later, in 1996, I was once again honored with the title, and that original work remains a treasured piece in my **private collection**.

Both of these paintings found their way into the hands and homes of fans and collectors alike—**275 limited edition lithographs**, **2,500 posters**, and a staggering **30,000 program covers** helped share the spirit of the Hambletonian far beyond the track. It was an incredible way to see art come alive, embedded in a cultural moment that continues to resonate with so many.

One memory that still stands out vividly was learning that the 1995 Hambletonian Artist of the Year was none other than **Leroy Neiman**—an icon whose bold, energetic style helped define sports art for a generation. To be mentioned in the same breath, and to share a timeline with such a legendary figure, was both humbling and inspiring.

As I reflect on these milestones, I’m reminded of the power of art to connect us to the moments, memories, and milestones that shape who we are. I’m grateful to the Meadowlands and the entire harness racing community for the opportunity to contribute my vision to such a historic event.

Here’s to honoring the past and racing forward into new creative adventures.

Inducted Wallington High School Academic Hall of Fame

Every artist has a turning point—a moment that pushes them from uncertainty into purpose. For me, one of those moments came at **Wallington High School**, where I graduated in **1982**. Decades later, in **2020**, I was humbled to be **inducted into the Wallington High School Academic Hall of Fame**—an honor that brought everything full circle.

Big John McCarthy UFC Referee

I had the honor of being commissioned to paint the former UFC Referee Big John McCarthy. The painting they wanted me to create was of a famous UFC 71 fight between Chuck Liddell and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. They submitted a photograph of Big John McCarthy stopping the fight between the two fighters to use as a reference. They gave me creative liberties in how I approached the event and portrayed the crowd. Essentially this was an iconic fight in history and Big John has played a huge roll in the history of the Ultimate Fighter. I needed to make this monumental moment come to life, I needed to make you feel the event, to hear the crowd coming to life as Big John jumps in to protect a champion who has just succumbed to his challengers blows. The original painting is 30″ x 40″ acrylic on museum-quality canvas that was delivered to Big John McCarthy.

MMA Fighter David Branch

Worked on this new commission painting of UFC Fighter David Branch. The painting takes you into the cage where David is fighting his heart out securing victory over his opponent. A New York born and raised young man who’s spirit is depicted watching over the city.

Adversity Wrestling Fine Art Painting

Just completed another commissioned sports painting, this time of a wrestler. The wrestling painting is of Nicky Raspantini a young emerging wrestling stud from New Jersey. The fine art sports painting captures what it would feel like to wrestle in the NCAA finals, Madison Square Garden crowd going nuts and the names of the top college wrestlers glowing from the lights.

The Adversity a wrestler goes through just to get to this place..to win..to get your hand raised in the NCAA Wrestling Tournament is as tough as it gets. Some of the college wrestlers names that appear in this painting. BROWN, LEE, CRUZ, LIZAK, RETHERFORD, JOSEPH, VALENCIA, SNYDER, GROSS, NOLF, etc. The 2018 original acrylic painting is 30″ x 40″ on museum quality canvas.

Philadelphia Eagles Carson Wentz Official Art

This original painting — inspired by the strength, grace, and purpose Carson brought to the game — was handcrafted in my studio and later released as a Limited Edition Fine Art Print, officially licensed by the NFL and the NFLPA, and included in the Deacon Jones Foundation art initiative, which uses art to fund youth education and mentorship programs.

New Painting of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“A True Champion Will Fight Through Anything” – Floyd Mayweather Jr.

by Sports Artist Edgar J. Brown

This powerful quote from Floyd Mayweather Jr. served as the inspiration for my original painting, a tribute to one of the most dominant and disciplined athletes in boxing history. Titled “A True Champion Will Fight Through Anything,” this piece was hand-painted in acrylic on heavyweight canvas, measuring a museum-standard 24″ x 36″ — a fitting size for a fighter whose presence in the ring was larger than life.

As a sports artist, I strive to capture more than just physical likeness. I aim to reflect the mindset, grit, and essence of an athlete. With Floyd Mayweather Jr., I saw not just an undefeated champion — but a strategist, a technician, and a relentless force who overcame personal and professional challenges to remain undefeated in a career that spanned decades.

About the Painting

Title: “A True Champion Will Fight Through Anything”
Medium: Acrylic
Canvas:  Heavyweight, museum-standard
Size: 24″ x 36″
Status: Original Hand-Painted Artwork by Edgar J. Brown

Every brushstroke was intended to reflect Floyd’s achievements in American Boxing — the focus in his portrait, the precision in every move, and the unshakable confidence that defined his career. The patriotic background and subtle lighting are designed to spotlight his victories, while the vibrant tones and sweat on his face pull your eye straight to being undefeated.

Why Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

With a flawless record of 50–0, Mayweather isn’t just a fighter — he’s a brand, a tactician, and a cultural icon. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying his impact on boxing and sports history. He represents the highest level of discipline and self-belief — qualities I believe are essential to greatness, in and out of the ring.

This painting is my artistic salute to that legacy.
